About Carina Cricket Club
Mater Hill was formed in 1975 by Peter "Boots” McEvoy as a single team of mates. Team numbers soon grew as the Club ethos evolved to create a Club dedicated to providing affordable cricket to members from all walks of life. The Eagles started in 1970 as the Southside Eagles, the junior cricketing arm of Southside United Football Club. Both Clubs recognised the importance of having both junior and senior sections to ensure the longevity and strength of the Club and to prevent young cricketers being lost to the sport. Mater Hill aims to utilise the game of cricket to engender mateship, responsibility, community spirit and physical health within its members and the wider community.
